Headache & migraine relief
Migraines are one the most common types of frequent headaches. They may affect over 12% of the US adult population and 10% of school-age children. Migraines are the most common cause of reoccurring disabling headaches and the number one reason why parents seek a neurologist. Migraines are usually associated with throbbing or pounding sensations, sensitivity to light (photophobia), noise, odors and/or nausea.
Is it really just a migraine?
Migraines can be mistaken for sinus headache, tension headache or arthritis. A neurologist can best determine the nature and cause of your child's headache. The neurologist routinely investigates and rules out diagnoses such as intracranial masses and hemorrhage, which can be misdiagnosed as a migraine. Migraines are best treated preventively. We may recommend changes to prescription medications, vitamins or even Botox® treatment, which has been shown to help some migraine sufferers.
